It began as a love affair with a radio and any type of sport that was broadcasted. Going to a baseball game, a hockey game, it did not matter what type of game; there was Eli practicing his play-by-play of the game in his recorder. Eli would take any job, paid or not, to be close to the broadcast booth to listen and learn from the announcers. Madison Square Gardens hired him to be a peanut vendor and he loved the access to the sporting events, he was not really worried about selling peanuts. Eli took on duties, jobs, and traveled on a minimal budget and sometimes did not get paid for the trip, but he always reported on the sports. Throughout his career he showed his prospective bosses the determination and hard work he had for announcing and his passion for race car driving, baseball, basketball, football and hockey to just name a few. Know as the "Voice of the Crimson Tide", Eli has broadcasted so many different sports and interviewed so many of the greatest sports figures.
